  • Which Squarespace plan is the cheapest?
The cheapest Squarespace prices can be accessed with the Personal plan, which costs $16/month with an annual subscription ($192 per year). But you should use the coupon code WEBSITERATING and get 10% off. Browse and compare all plans.
  • What are the best ways to save money on Squarespace?
You’ll save money if you pay yearly, and you’ll also get a free domain name (for the first year). Also, you should consider buying your domain name and email hosting elsewhere (e.g. with Namecheap), and finally you should take advantage of Squarespace’s promo codes.

If you have read our Squarespace review, then you know that despite its relatively high prices (lack of a free plan), it does offer decent enough value for money. And of course, the fact there are 2,000,000+ active Squarespace websites suggests that the platform is doing at least a couple of things right.

That said, it’s extremely important to analyze prices closely to ensure you’re getting what you expect. Some website builders offer much cheaper plans in an attempt to suck you in. But these tend to be overly simplistic with very limited features.

In this article, we take a thorough look at the Squarespace pricing plans. We explore the fine details of its plans, how it lines up with its competitors, and whether it brings enough bang for your buck to be your best option.

If you just want to build a simple personal site, I’d recommend the aptly named Personal plan. The Business plan provides more advanced management tools, as well as marketing and basic eCommerce functionality.

And finally, the Basic and Advanced Commerce plans add a suite of tools for those planning to create an online store.

Plan Monthly Subscription CostAnnual Subscription Cost
Basic Commerce$36/month$27/month
Advanced Commerce$65/month$49/month

What Does the Personal Plan Include?

The cheapest Squarespace prices can be accessed with the Personal plan, which costs $16/month for an annual subscription.

All annual plans come with a free domain for the first twelve months. All subscriptions also include a free SSL certificate, advanced SEO integrations, mobile-optimized website templates, 24/7 customer support, and unlimited bandwidth and storage.

Note, though, that the Personal plan doesn’t come with any eCommerce or marketing tools.

Personally, I feel like it’s a little expensive, but it certainly comes with a much greater range of advanced tools than the low-end plans from competitors like Wix.

What Does the Business Plan Include?

The more advanced Business plan costs $23/month with an annual subscription. It includes everything in the Personal plan, along with advanced website analytics and other marketing tools.

Basic eCommerce tools are also available, allowing you to sell an unlimited number of products, accept donations, and sell gift cards. Note, though, that all sales will be subject to a 3% transaction fee.

One other thing I like is that an annual subscription includes free G Suite and a free professional Gmail account for the first year.

Overall, this plan is targeted at small to medium business owners who want to get online with minimum fuss. And In my opinion, it does a great job.

Personal vs Business Plan

The Personal plan is Squarespace’s cheapest plan and is (as the name suggests) aimed at building personal projects and blogs. The Business plan aims to build business websites and comes with marketing features and source code access.

Personal plan

  • 24/7 customer support
  • A mobile-optimized website with up to 1000 pages
  • Free custom domain for one year
  • SSL security
  • Two contributors
  • Website Analytics

Business Plan

  • Everything in Personal plan, plus:
  • $100 Google Ads credit
  • 1 free G Suite user/inbox for the first year
  • Announcement and mobile information bars
  • Commerce Analytics
  • Custom code
  • Fully integrated Commerce (3% transaction fee)
  • Mailchimp integration
  • Promotional pop-ups
  • Unlimited contributors

What Does the Basic Commerce Plan Include?

The cheapest of the two Squarespace eCommerce options, the Basic Commerce plan, is $27/month.

Along with everything in the Business plan, it includes a selection of more advanced online selling tools, along with 0% transaction fees.

Noteworthy additions include advanced eCommerce analytics, POS integrations, custom domain checkouts, customer accounts, and the ability to integrate your product listings with Instagram.

What Does the Advanced Commerce Plan Include?

Purchasing the Advanced Commerce subscription provides access to the full range of Squarespace’s eCommerce tools. It costs $49/month for an annual subscription.

Signing up for this will give you advanced shipping integrations, advanced discount tools, abandoned cart recovery, and the ability to sell subscriptions. If you’re looking for the entire eCommerce package, this could be a good option despite the relatively high prices.

Basic Commerce vs Advanced Commerce plan

Both the Basic Commerce and Advanced Commerce plans are aimed at e-commerce businesses. The former is aimed at smaller online stores, while the latter offers specialized features to take your online store to the next level.

Basic Commerce plan

  • Everything in Business plan, plus:
  • Additional Commerce Analytics
  • Checkout on Your Domain
  • Customer Accounts

How Can I Save Money On My Squarespace Subscription?

Squarespace pricing is quite high, to begin with, so it’s important to save money wherever possible. There are two obvious ways to do this, including:

Use a Third-Party Email Host

Squarespace partners with Google’s G Suite, which costs $6 per month at full price. There are numerous other professional email providers out there. For example, Zoho offers a free email plan that includes most basic features, while Namecheap offers premium hosting from just $0.79 per month.

Use a Different Domain Name Registrar

Registering a domain with Squarespace is quite expensive. Prices start from $20 per year for .com domains. Many competitors like GoDaddy and Namecheap offer domains for as low as per year, effectively saving you 50%.

Compare Prices Against Website Builder Competitors

Squarespace’s main competitor is undoubtedly Wix. Here is an in-depth Wix vs Squarespace comparison but how does Squarespace pricing vs Wix compare?

Questions & Answers

Our Verdict ⭐

Though the Squarespace pricing plans appear quite expensive at first glance, the value in its service becomes evident once you dig a little deeper.

Design Made Easy with Squarespace

Experience the art of website creation with Squarespace's beautifully-designed, mobile-optimized templates, and robust eCommerce tools.

The higher cost is largely due to the wide range of advanced features and native integrations on offer. Even the cheapest Personal plan comes with everything you need to build a highly functional website, which more than justifies the price tag.

The bottom line: don’t let Squarespace’s initially scary prices keep you from giving it a run for its money. Besides, the 14-day trial gives you a great opportunity to test the waters before diving in.
