What Does the Personal Plan Include?
The cheapest Squarespace prices can be accessed with the Personal plan, which costs $16/month for an annual subscription.
All annual plans come with a free domain for the first twelve months. All subscriptions also include a free SSL certificate, advanced SEO integrations, mobile-optimized website templates, 24/7 customer support, and unlimited bandwidth and storage.
Note, though, that the Personal plan doesn’t come with any eCommerce or marketing tools.
Personally, I feel like it’s a little expensive, but it certainly comes with a much greater range of advanced tools than the low-end plans from competitors like Wix.
What Does the Business Plan Include?
The more advanced Business plan costs $23/month with an annual subscription. It includes everything in the Personal plan, along with advanced website analytics and other marketing tools.
Basic eCommerce tools are also available, allowing you to sell an unlimited number of products, accept donations, and sell gift cards. Note, though, that all sales will be subject to a 3% transaction fee.
One other thing I like is that an annual subscription includes free G Suite and a free professional Gmail account for the first year.
Overall, this plan is targeted at small to medium business owners who want to get online with minimum fuss. And In my opinion, it does a great job.
Personal vs Business Plan
The Personal plan is Squarespace’s cheapest plan and is (as the name suggests) aimed at building personal projects and blogs. The Business plan aims to build business websites and comes with marketing features and source code access.

How Can I Save Money On My Squarespace Subscription?
Squarespace pricing is quite high, to begin with, so it’s important to save money wherever possible. There are two obvious ways to do this, including:
Use a Third-Party Email Host
Squarespace partners with Google’s G Suite, which costs $6 per month at full price. There are numerous other professional email providers out there. For example, Zoho offers a free email plan that includes most basic features, while Namecheap offers premium hosting from just $0.79 per month.

Use a Different Domain Name Registrar
Registering a domain with Squarespace is quite expensive. Prices start from $20 per year for .com domains. Many competitors like GoDaddy and Namecheap offer domains for as low as per year, effectively saving you 50%.
Compare Prices Against Website Builder Competitors
Squarespace’s main competitor is undoubtedly Wix. Here is an in-depth Wix vs Squarespace comparison but how does Squarespace pricing vs Wix compare?
Squarespace pricing plans
Annual Plan | Savings | |
---|---|---|
Personal | $16/month | 30% |
Business | $23/month | 30% |
Basic Commerce | $27/month | 25% |
Advanced Commerce | $49/month | 24% |
Wix pricing plans
The Squarespace pricing vs Wix is slightly cheaper, and simpler. Squarespace offers four plans starting at $16/month, but Wix has a forever-free (albeit very limited) plan and a wider range of plans and choices.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is Squarespace Cheaper Than Its Main Competitors?
If you’re just looking for the cheapest plan with no other considerations, Wix (free forever), Weebly (free forever & $6 per year), and a suite of other website builders offer lower prices. However, Squarespace continues to provide great value for money, and even its cheapest plans include a selection of advanced features.
Does Squarespace Offer a Money-Back Guarantee?
No, Squarespace doesn’t have a money-back guarantee. However, it does offer a 14-day free trial so you can test its plans.
Can I Get a Discount With a Squarespace Coupon Code?
Squarespace doesn’t offer any free plans but you can get 10% off on your first subscription term for any plan (monthly or yearly) using the Squarespace promo code WEBSITERATING at checkout. There are no hidden terms and conditions – as long as you’re a first-time Squarespace customer, you get 10% off your subscription plan using the voucher code WEBSITERATING.
Squarespace also offers a 50% off student discount. Students with a valid academic email address get 50% off the first year of Squarespace. Visit this page to redeem this offer.
Is Squarespace Good for eCommerce?
Squarespace can be good for basic eCommerce, but it doesn’t compare to dedicated platforms like Shopify or WooCommerce. If you just want to sell a few products as part of your business website, it’s fine. Otherwise, I’d recommend looking elsewhere.
Summary – Squarespace Pricing 2023
Though the Squarespace pricing plans appear quite expensive at first glance, the value in its service becomes evident once you dig a little deeper.
The higher cost is largely due to the wide range of advanced features and native integrations on offer. Even the cheapest Personal plan comes with everything you need to build a highly functional website, which more than justifies the price tag.
The bottom line: don’t let Squarespace’s initially scary prices keep you from giving it a run for its money. Besides, the 14-day trial gives you a great opportunity to test the waters before diving in.
